The Systemic Excellence Group was founded and officially registered as Systemic Consulting Support GmbH (Ltd.) in Stuttgart in 2001. The initial goal of the company was to provide a supporting infrastructure for systemic consultants who at the time were mostly organised as one person enterprises.

Soon the Support Ltd. opened a second office in Berlin. The focus of the work was on change management and organisational development. One year later in 2003 the Support Ltd. became the Systemic Consulting Support Group. Research on the topic of networks brought us to set Social Design on the agenda of Berlin's first design festival DESIGNMAI. We grew and at the same time we focused all our resources in Berlin. The idea was to invest more cooperation into research improving further formats of systemic consulting. The “Systemic Inquiry” method was such a breakthrough development, academically and with our clients. Our expertise in exploring organisations became our value driver.

International recognition in consulting as well as in research raised the question of our own organisational development. We felt the need for refocusing both consulting and research. Organisational Mastery and Organisational Excellence came into sight. And further investigation into Social Design brought us into the realms of political institutions and NGOs.

Inspired by our clients in 2005 we set course on becoming a think tank rather than growing as a mere consulting firm. The Systemic Consulting Group – Independent Think Tank for Social Design and Organisational Excellence was born. Shifting the emphasis of the Group from consulting to excellence broadened and integrated the focus on practice and results and enhanced our performance to the very benefit and success of our clients.

Becoming Systemic Excellence Group – Independent Think Tank for Leading Practice marks the completion of a challenging organisational transformation. A development towards excellence however shall never be called completed. It goes on.
